Best Book Boyfriends of 2012

Swoony Boys Podcast Top 10 of 2012 Young Adult Best Books We've Read

We’re ending the year teaming up with the lovely ladies at Fiktshun, A Life Bound By Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Two Chicks on Books, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads to feature our Top 10 Favorites all week long. Today, it’s all about swoony boys.

Stop by tomorrow to see the 2013 books we can’t wait to read.

Best Book Boyfriends? *jumps up and down* That’s totally what we’re all about! The rules were that he had to be from a book that was released and read in 2012. We probably don’t have to tell you that we had a lot of difficulties narrowing down this list, but here you go:

Best Book Boyfriends of 2012

Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins Archer

“So hologram means–” I finally said.

“It means non-corporeal, yeah. Which sucks seeing as how there are a lot of very corporeal things I’d like to do with you right now.”

In spite of the fact that Rachel Hawkins said that Archer prefers Pink Grapefruit juice (which she admittedly remedied when she said he drinks OJ for Kass), we think he’s one of the swooniest–and funniest–guys ever.

Black City by Elizabeth RichardsAsh

I wonder what it would be like to place my lips over that freckle, to sink my fangs into her neck…She turns and catches me looking. A small smiles flits across her lips, and in that instant, my fate is sealed.
I want her.

Ash is swoony from the start, but once he and Natalie ‘make it official’, the amount of swoon he produces seems to multiply. There is no doubt that Elizabeth Richards knows how to make you fall for a male character and root for him on every page.

Spellcaster by Cara Lynn ShultzBrendan

“The way you’re leaning over me like that, there’s nothing funny about what I’d like to do with you,” he said in a low rumbling voice. Brendan slid his hand down around my waist and then quickly pulled my body down to him, so I fell onto his chest. With his other hand, he tilted my chin up, his soft lips closing over mine in a full, intoxicating kiss. Nervous about the open door, I pulled away, and he bit my lower lip gently–just enough to make me want to stay.

“Stop making me want you when I have witchcraft to study.”

Brendan was pretty sweet in Spellbound, but he’s downright swoony in Spellcaster. He’s protective without being overbearing and super hot.

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons Chase

He put a hand on his throat, as though trying to stop the words, but they came anyway.

“You’re home. To me.”

Chase falls in that category of perfect guy that so many of our favorites seem to occupy. He’s not only good looking, but he risks everything for the one he loves, and he loves with every ounce of himself. Ember is lucky to have him, and we’re even luckier that Kristen Simmons created him.

Insurgent by Veronica RothFour

“We’re all right, you know,’ he says quietly. ‘You and me. Okay?’ My chest aches, and I nod. ‘Nothing else is all right.’ His whisper tickles my cheek. ‘But we are.”

If you know either of us at all, you know that Four is at the top of all of our lists. If you’ve read the books there is no reason to ask why, and if you haven’t, you should be ashamed. Go read it now. All you need to know about Four is that he is the perfect combination of dangerous, sexy, sweet, and brave. And also that he’s ours.

My Life Next Door by Huntley FitzpatrickJase

“You okay? This okay?”

I nod, pulling his hips more tightly to my own.

“Now we’ll make it better,” Jase vows, and begins to kiss me again as he starts to move in a rhythm. My body follows, unwilling to let him go, already glad to have him come back.”

When we finished My Life Next Door, we were torn between sitting in silence and soaking it all in, and gushing for hours about our love for Jase. In the end, gushing about Jase won and we spent hours talking about all the reasons why we loved him. If you doubt for even a second how much he makes us swoon, just mention his name to one of us. Just make sure you’ve got some time on your hands to spare. It won’t be a short conversation.

Defiance by CJ RedwineLogan

The realization isn’t nearly as shocking as the fact that despite our differences, our current situation, and the impossibility of it all, I still ache to press her against the wall and taste her.

Logan. So protective. So inventive. So hot. le sigh.

Easy by Tammara WebberLucas

“Now?” His warm hand curved around my waist and he pulled me closer.

I looked into his eyes as he lay over me. “Maybe, in a little while…”

He scooted lower. “Good. ‘Cause I’ve got a couple things I’d like to do first.”

We had over 40 notes highlighted for this book and had a really hard time choosing one to share. Lucas is sweet, smart, and strong. And he has tattoos. Swoon.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica RossiPerry (and Roar)

“There are other things I’d rather do when I’m alone with you.”

Oh, Perry. Perry, Perry, Perry. We love you. We love your wild, your sweet, and your sexy. Really there isn’t anything that Perry does that doesn’t make us swoon.

Something Like Normal by Trish DollerTravis

And, Jesus, she’s a good kisser. So good I want to beat the hell out of whoever taught her.

Travis. *dreamy sigh* Between picturing him in his uniform and getting to be inside his head throughout this book, it would be impossible not to fall for Travis. Harper couldn’t resist him and neither could we. He’s real, honest, and ridiculously good-looking. Add that to Meg’s weakness to a military man, and Travis’s spot on this list becomes pretty concrete. We love him and know you will too.

Leave us a comment and let us know who your favorite Book Boyfriends are. But be forewarned–they probably already belong to us. Be sure to check out all the great lists from everyone else participating here.
