In the summer before eighth grade, Marco Suarez kissed his best friend Sally Blake. This was his first spark.

- 34 Pieces of You, the other book that we’ve read by Carmen Rodrigues, is nothing short of intense. And though it looks like we might get a tiny reprieve with The Universal Laws of Marco, it certainly promises to deliver compelling characters and a thoughtful storyline that intrigues us.
- We’re suckers for dual POV, and this one has that, but in a different, very interesting way: told from Marco’s point of view in the past, in eighth grade, and the present, as a high school senior.
- Have you ever thought about what if? This book takes that thought and actually gives it to us…in so many (sometimes unexpected) ways. 💯
