We love it when we reading something that we want to tell everyone we meet about. We especially love it when that book comes from a debut author. We are waiting a little while longer to share our review because we don’t want to spoil anything, anything (see what we did there?) but we wanted to make sure you had this one on your radar. So today we are sharing our top 3 reasons why we think you’ll love it too!
This week our selection is Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. We can’t wait to share more about this book with all of you. Let’s get started…

This innovative, heartfelt debut novel tells the story of a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world. When a new family moves in next door, she begins a complicated romance that challenges everything she’s ever known. The narrative unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, texts, charts, lists, illustrations, and more.
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
3 Reasons You Should Read
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
- We love finding new authors to obsess over. Nicola Yoon is now one of those authors. Not only has she penned a beautiful debut novel and given us characters to love and a story to remember, she also created just the kind of diverse book that the YA community needs. You’ll see what we mean when you read it, and you’ll love her for it just like we do.
- You are absolutely going to fall in love with Olly. This boy, you guys. He’s sweet and gentle and patient and swoony and he says things like this: “In my head I know I’ve been in love before, but it doesn’t feel like it. Being in love with you is better than the first time. It feels like the first time and the last time and the only time all at once.” He is everything.
- Everything, Everything is EVERYTHING. There’s no better way to say it. It is beautifully written and refreshingly different. If you haven’t already pre-ordered a copy, do it. If you are lucky enough to have gotten your hands on an early copy, read it. You won’t regret it. We promise.
