This week Top Ten Tuesday is all about our favorite reads of the year. We’re going to tell you our Top Ten Books of 2013! This was another difficult list, but we came up with some rules of our own to make it easier. Not only did we have to read the book in 2013, it had to have been published in 2013 as well. This helped us save some of the AMAZING books we’ve read that release in 2014 for a post next year and focus on the best of this year! We couldn’t pick an exact order, so we put them in alphabetically instead. Here are our favorites from this year…
Our Favorite Reads of 2013:
All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
Well written debut? Check. Time travel? Check. Swoony Boy? Check. (Finn!) Kick ass heroine? Check. So the real question is…what’s not to love? The answer is nothing.
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
This book. We know we talk about it a lot, but we just can’t help it. Not only is it a brilliant debut, it also has one of the most complicated (in a good way!) storylines and swooniest guys we read this year. We are going to go nuts waiting for book #2.
Boundless by Cynthia Hand
More Christian. More Clara. (More Jeffrey!) That’s what we wanted and that’s what we got. After Hallowed, we weren’t sure what to expect. The boy we would have picked didn’t get the ending that we thought he should have, but even that didn’t keep this one off our list. It’s a fitting ending for these characters and we love that.
The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise
The Boyfriend App is a perfect contemporary. It’s funny, smart, and swoony. We love Aiden and Audrey because they are the kind of characters we want to meet and be friends with in real life. Add to that one of the sweetest authors we’ve ever met and you’ve got a book that just had to be on this list.
Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff
We have to start by saying that we had so much fun interviewing and meeting Allen Zadoff this year. He’s not just a great writer, he’s also a great (and hilarious!) person. We loved the characters (Ben ♥), the storyline, and the gadgets. This is one we are dying to see on the big screen. Until that happens, we’ll be not so patiently waiting for The Lost Mission.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Rainbow Rowell knows how to write a book that grabs you by the gut and sticks with you. Her characters bring the giggles, the swoon, and all the feelings. (That’s right. ALL of them.) We wouldn’t mind a hundred more books filled with Levi and Cath, but we can say pretty confidently that whenever a year has a Rainbow book in it, it will make our list.
How to Love by Katie Cotugno
Where do we start? Not only does How to Love feature Meg’s favorite boy of the year, it is also one the best contemporary books we’ve ever read. It’s realistic, funny, and of course, swoony. With Sawyer LeGrande and Reena you can’t go wrong. This was an amazing debut that has us wanting to reading everything that Katie Cotugno writes.

Six Months Later by Natalie Richards
Six Months Later is one of the books that caught us by surprise this year. It’s got everything we could have wanted + Kass’ favorite boy of the year! Action, suspense, a believable main character who totally kicks ass, a sweet boy who will have you swooning and flailing, and a BFF that you’ll want to hang out with. We can’t wait to find out what’s next for Natalie Richards.

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
This book has a little bit of everything. Space, adventure, a fun (and realistic!) romance, and a very unique plot. The cover captured our hearts from the first glimpse, and the words inside solidified our feelings. We can’t wait to read more from these two.
Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
Could we have a list without Trish Doller? No way. She’s our lobster. Seriously, though. This one made us smile from cover to acknowledgements. (Especially the fact that Alex is all ours.) We loved WtSSS and while we can’t believe that 2014 won’t have a Trish book to look forward to, we know that she’ll be back with a vengeance in 2015. We can’t wait.
