The queen has returned.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.
The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series continues Celaena’s epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.
The 411:
So when we last saw our favorite heroine, she had just barely escaped Mauve’s clutches. Luckily she was able to free Rowan from his blood oath to her aunt and instead, bind him to herself. We saw a battle of epic proportion and we saw a queen rising from the ashes. Meanwhile, in Adarlan, Chaol and Dorian faced their own hell.
The book starts off with Aelin plotting her rescue of Aedion. But even though she learned how to use her magic, she has returned to a land without magic so unfortunately for her, she’s no longer able to shift. Returning to Adarlan means many things for Aelin. There are scores to settle, friends to free, and a city or essentially a world to save.
What We Loved:
Everything. Every page, from beginning to end, was a vivid masterpiece. We love everything about this series. We feel like this is one of those books that couldn’t be timed more perfectly.
We were happy to have started after the first four books were published, but now we feel like we’re going to have withdrawals if we have to wait until Fall to read more of this series. Thankfully we can read ACOTAR and The Assassin’s Blade in the meantime.
Um...Not So Much:
Well, for once there was something that we really didn’t like. It was the sad fate that befell one of the characters. We hope there is a massive turnaround in the next book.
Bottom Line:
From beginning to end, Queen of Shadows is a vivid masterpiece.

I absolutely loved this book! Cannot wait for the next instalment but what worries me is the intense book hangover that I get after reading SJ Maas and then being unable to read anything further FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR!!!!
