Best Debuts of 2012

Swoony Boys Podcast Top 10 of 2012 Young Adult Best Books We've Read

We’re ending the year teaming up with the lovely ladies at Fiktshun, A Life Bound By Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Two Chicks on Books, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads to feature our Top 10 Favorites all week long. Today, it’s all about Debut Authors!

Stop by tomorrow to see our favorite Book Boyfriends ♥

The rules for this post allowed us to choose the list we wanted to feature, so long as it contained books that we have read in 2012. We could have ranked villains, contemporaries, dual POVs, novellas, adult titles, new adult titles, love triangles (ew–really?), couples, bad boys, or debuts. You wouldn’t believe how many lists we made, trying to decide. Since we love helping out new authors and are always so inspired by them, we figured that would be the perfect list for us. These are books that we read in 2012.

Best Debuts of 2012

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons

What do you need to know about this book? Chase. Okay, fine. It’s also well written and leaves you wanting so much more. But really Chase is reason enough for you to pick up a copy of this immediately.

Black City by Elizabeth Richards

Black City by Elizabeth Richards

We still cannot believe that Black City is Elizabeth Richards debut. It’s sexy and refreshing, and even in a bookworld full of vampires you don’t want to miss this one. You need Ash in your life. (Just remember, he’s ours.)

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

We loved the world Jodi Meadows presented in Incarnate and can’t wait for more.

Insignia by S.J. Kincaid

Insignia by S.J. Kincaid

Let’s just say that even if we hadn’t met S.J. Kincaid and fallen in love with her before we opened her book, we still would have included this one on our list. It’s impossible not to love this story and this cast of characters.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Is this real life? Is this really Huntley Fitzpatrick’s debut? We want to read everything she’s ever written. Including her high school diary. Especially her high school diary.

We loved My Life Next Door with the fire of a thousand suns and can’t wait for all of you to read it, too.

Personal Effects by E.M. Kokie

Personal Effects by E.M. Kokie

This is one of those books with a little bit of everything you’ve been looking for and things you didn’t even know you were looking for. You definitely want this one one on your reading list.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

This book was so real and just so powerful. We can’t wait to see what Katie comes up with next.

Something Like Normal by Trish Doller

Something Like Normal by Trish Doller

We’re a little bit worried that Trish Doller might think we’re stalking her (even if it’s true!). The fact is that we love everything about this book and cannot wait to see what she’s got in store for us next. Whatever it is, we have no doubt that we’re going to love it.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

This world. This girl. These boys. (Oh, the boys.) Awesome doesn’t even begin to cover this debut. We’re definitely fans. Perfect book is perfect. ♥

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

Unraveling was a book unlike any other we’ve ever read. The premise was pretty amazing, and we really loved the characters.
